ABOUT US

BOTTEGA BOTANIKA

Taste The Territory

Direct collaboration with farmers and artisans: giving greater value to the quality of the product and the quality of the work. In fact, short production-chains are synonymous of Freshness, Seasonality and Typical Characteristics of the Territory. A choice not only of taste but also of respect for the environment and for the consumer.

  • Seasonality: expanding our actions in compliance with the seasonality of the products and of the slow pace of local productions.

  • Territory: the products must be linked to a territory, to the memory, to the identity of a community. A territory is land, air, water, climate, but also language, dialects, religion, crafts, architecture and landscape.

In This Context, BB Primarily Focuses On Specializing In Italian Cuisine.

RURAL FEMINIST

Step into Bottega Botanika, our feminist project where 70% of our products are lovingly crafted by women, many of whom are passionate activists in cultural and social causes. And we're on a mission to boost that number even higher!

WE BELIEVE in the power of women as protectors of mother earth and wise guardians of traditions. Women are at the center of our attention, as a too often marginalized part of society. We want to bring about radical change in society, by acknowledging how often women are at the roots of our food: working the land, harvesting and processing crops, raising animals, fishing, selling in local markets, protecting forests and water resources. 70% of our products are created by the skilled hands of women and female artisans, and we hope to increase our percentage in the future! The women who work with us are in line with our ethos: their practice is rooted in traditions that respect the ecosystem they work in, and strictly embedded with social movements that strive for sustainability.

Sustainability at every level: caring for the natural environment, for the interactions in the ecosystems, and for the economic and social conditions of human interactions.

Sabbinirìca!!!

I Am Nadia, The Founder Of Bottega Botanika. This Place Is My Dream Come True, An Embodiment Of Everything I Love And Believe In. I Have Always Been Passionate About Territories: From Their Touch To Their Vibration, Down To Their Chemical Composition. It Is This Chemistry That Gives Fruits And Vegetables An Authentic Identity, Making Them The Face Of The Territory.

I was born in a village on the slopes of Mount Etna, and carries in her a volcanic temperament: always in movement like the waves surrounding the island. Since childhood, I have been surrounded by older people from all different social classes. My father is the bartender in a small town where everyone knows one another. During the long hours I spent waiting for my father to finish the shifts; local artisans, farmers, peasants, started to invite me to the countryside, or their workshops, in a simple attempt to entertain. Those people became my heroes. I have now been living abroad for years, but when I return, I always find myself surrounded with her beautiful extended family. No matter where I am, the stories and atmosphere of those places and people constantly live in my skin. And actions.

Bottega Botanika is my way of expressing this passion (and my knowledge in this sector)and sharing it with others. Here, I can share my unique vision with others and create an experience that goes beyond mere consumption. For me, Bottega Botanika is like a special retreat. Here, every artisanal product takes shape with care and attention, starting from the very roots of the natural ingredients. It's as if every visit to this shop is a journey back to my origins, a return to the roots of life itself.

I am a queer person, obsessive reader, collagistmaker, musician, and Ortolana( Farmer ).
